Uganda: Country, People and Culture

The Country
The national language in Uganda is English, but many other languages are also spoken in different parts of the country. In the area where I live, Luganda is spoken almost everywhere in addition to English.
Nature & Climate
The country in East Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world, but this country is very fertile and rich in diverse plants, animals and water. It is characterized by many lakes, the White Nile, primeval forests and savannas. The natural beauty of the country can be seen particularly in the nine national parks and six game reserves.

The climate is mostly tropical-warm and extremely warm or cold temperatures rarely occur. There is a rainy season twice a year, which lasts for 1-2 months. These are around November and March respectively.

Culture
Around 85% of the total population of Uganda are Christians and there are many different churches. Pastors in particular are highly respected in many areas and are mostly wealthy. The education system has developed well in recent decades, but the large population growth is still a major challenge. Primary and secondary education, however, is free. The Ugandan government consists of authoritarian and democratic elements and the military plays an important role. Generally the Culture a very free culture and people are very easy going and open minded about pretty much everything.
